Our Method
The ultimate objective of all foreign language training should be to help students communicate effectively and with ease in the target language. We’ve created eSpanishLive to reach that goal. Our approach is a revolutionary new way to learn Spanish on the Internet. It integrates Easy Español´s exclusive audio-cognitive language method with the cognitive apprenticeship theory of human learning. Using telepresence as the springboard, we’re taking the concept of e-learning to exciting new heights.
Years of teaching with standard methods left us frustrated with the mediocre results we received, so we developed a brand new teaching method. The Easy Español audio-cognitive language method focuses on developing students’ listening comprehension skills right from the start. We guide students as they experience the direct relationship between the cognitive and emotional processes integral to communication. This approach stands in sharp contrast to most other language training with its overwhelming focus on the written language, tedious memorization of grammatical rules, and vocabulary acquisition based entirely on translation. The Easy Español audio-cognitive method focal point is Language Empowerment which consists of developing the student’s language confidence to spontaneously achieve language competence. We’ve been thrilled with the results—this method has helped us support intuitive and effective learning in thousands of students.
All of our classes constitute cognitive apprenticeships—teaching relationships in which the master of a skill shares knowledge with an apprentice. In the case of language learning, the coach is the master of the language skills. Language acquisition develops through direct communication in high-interest contexts that encourage students to observe, perform, and reinforce specific language functions. Simply put, students naturally attain language proficiency.
On the other hand, effective learning through the Internet requires building a strong and flexible telepresence. Wikipedia defines telepresence as a set of technologies that allow a person to feel as if they were present at a place other than their true location. Telepresence requires that the users’ senses receive enough stimuli to create the feeling of being in another actual location.
Sessions with eSpanishLive build telepresence by including a wide variety of aural and visual experiences to produce a strong sense of shared space between the coach and the student. Many of our students report that they feel more engaged and better supported in our virtual classrooms than they ever did in a traditional one.
All in all, eSpanishLive has created a sound and effective e-learning system that is a balanced blend of our proven audio-cognitive language method along with the practical learning theory of cognitive apprenticeship and the modern concept of telepresence. We’re convinced that eSpanishLive offers the best option yet to learn a language using the Internet. With eSpanishLive you live the language.
Enjoy your lessons!
